Angela came to the Missouri Job Center as a dislocated worker seeking employment. She began working at the Thom Knott Insurance Agency through the On-the-Job Training (OJT) program. She recently completed mid-point monitoring conducted by her Career Coach and is doing very well.
Angela is working on her insurance license exam and is receiving assistance with the cost through supportive services also offered at the Missouri Job Center. Angela will continue to work at the insurance agency as a licensed insurance sales representative after completion of the program.
The goal of the OJT program is to put unemployed or underemployed individuals to work earning a paycheck while receiving training on the job. The employer is reimbursed for a percentage of the wages of the workers hired through this program while training occurs.
Thom Knott, owner of the insurance agency, has worked with the Job Center before and has recommended their services to other employers in the area. He stated:
