Marcus entered the Sedalia Job Center seeking support in obtaining a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). He had recently lost his job and as the sole provider for a family of six, he was determined to pursue a stable and sustainable career.
He was enrolled in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Program and SkillUp Missouri which provided him with the resources and guidance he needed to begin his journey. By May 2025, Marcus had earned his CDL permit and enrolled in the Commercial Driver Academy at State Fair Community College.
Marcus successfully completed the training and obtained his Class A CDL by the end of May. He is working diligently to start his own business. The support of these programs along with his career coach show how workforce development programs can empower individuals to overcome challenges and achieve meaningful employment.
