After 27 years with Timken, Melvin was one of the last employees remaining when the facility closed. Facing unemployment, he knew he needed a change.
Melvin entered the Nevada Job Center, where he began working with a Career Coach to determine his next steps toward a new career. As a dislocated worker, he enrolled in the WIOA Dislocated Worker Program and attended CDL training at True, where he successfully earned his license.
Today, Melvin is employed with Symmetry Machining Services as a parts driver. Reflecting on his experience, he shared, “It’s got me back to working and doing something new,” and he highly recommends the Job Center programs to anyone looking for a fresh start.
Melvin’s journey highlights the impact of the West Central Region Job Center, where career coaching, training resources, and workforce development programs help individuals gain the skills needed to rebuild stable careers.
Through services available at Missouri Job Centers across the state, individuals like Melvin can access training opportunities, career guidance, and pathways into high-demand industries that strengthen both families and local communities.
Congratulations, Melvin, on your success!
