Courtney’s path from high school senior to classroom teacher shows what happens when determination meets the right support at the right time.
Courtney first enrolled in WIOA Adult and Youth programs as a senior at Smith-Cotton High School. Through WIOA, she received supportive services that helped her overcome barriers and stay focused on her educational goals.
That support carried her through college. In 2026, Courtney graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, a minor in History, and her Educator Certification.
Today, Courtney has come full circle. She returned to her alma mater, Smith-Cotton High School, where she now teaches High School History. Her achievement reflects her dedication, perseverance, and commitment to education.
