\Logen began working with the West Central Region Job Center in February 2025 while enrolled in the nursing program at State Fair Community College in Sedalia. Like many students balancing the demands of school with the realities of everyday life, Logen knew that pursuing a nursing career would take more than hard work and determination—it would take the right support to stay on track.
Through her partnership with the West Central Region Job Center and the guidance of her Career Coach, Logen was able to access funding through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). This support eliminated the financial barrier of tuition, allowing Logen to stay fully focused on her education without the added stress of how to pay for her training.
On December 12, 2025, Logen successfully earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) credential—a major milestone in her nursing journey. With her new credential in hand, she quickly secured full-time summer employment at Royal Oaks Hospital, where she is currently earning a sustainable wage of $36 per hour.
Looking ahead, Logen plans to transition to PRN (as-needed) status at Royal Oaks Hospital as she returns to school this fall. She remains committed to advancing her career and is on track to complete her Registered Nurse (RN) program this December, bringing her one step closer to her long-term goals.
Logen’s journey is a powerful example of how WIOA funding and the guidance of a Career Coach at the West Central Region Job Center can help individuals overcome financial barriers and build a path toward a rewarding healthcare career.
Through services available at Missouri Job Centers across the state, individuals like Logen can access funding, career coaching, and training opportunities that lead to in-demand careers in fields like healthcare—strengthening both families and local communities.
Congratulations, Logen, on your success!
