For many high school seniors, the path after graduation can feel uncertain. For Keegan, it started with a conversation that would shape the next several years of his life.
In May 2022, while still a student at Sweet Springs High School, Keegan began working with a Career Coach at the West Central Region Job Center. At the time, he was spending his days helping his grandfather on the family farm — and looking for guidance on how to take the next step toward higher education.
With support from his Career Coach and resources available through the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) Program, Keegan had a clear path forward. After graduating from Sweet Springs High School in May 2022, he enrolled at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg that August to pursue a degree in Engineering Technology.
Over the next few years, Keegan balanced the demands of college life with determination and a clear goal in mind. In December 2025, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology — a milestone that opened the door to the career he had been working toward.
Shortly after graduation, Keegan accepted a position as a Project Engineer with JE Dunn Construction, one of the nation’s leading construction companies.
Throughout his journey, the WIOA Program provided tuition assistance, supportive services, and achievement incentives that helped make his educational goals a reality. Keegan has expressed deep gratitude for the support he received through the Missouri Job Center and the WIOA Program, recognizing the meaningful role both played in his academic and professional success.
Keegan’s story is a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when students have access to the right resources at the right time. The West Central Region Job Center connects individuals, from high schoolers mapping out their futures to adults navigating career transitions, with the tools, training, and guidance needed to build lasting careers.
Through workforce development programs like WIOA, Missouri Job Centers across the state help students and job seekers access education funding, career coaching, and pathways into high-demand industries that strengthen families and communities.
